Friable Asbestos (easily crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder): Must be properly wetted down and double bagged in accordance to New York State regulations.
Residents and commercial haulers should contact the landfill at 607-763-4036 to obtain approval to dispose of asbestos at the landfill.
If a commercial hauler is being used, a valid NYSDEC 364 permit must be on file with the scale house and a manifest must accompany each load. Friable asbestos is only accepted prior to 1:00 pm on Thursdays.
Non-Friable Asbestos (roofing shingles, siding, floor & ceiling tiles): Must be separated from other wastes. Notify the scale operator that the material being disposed of is non-friable asbestos.
