Broome West Senior Center to Temporarily Close for Floor Renovations

(BROOME COUNTY, NY) – The Broome County Office for Aging has announced the Broome West Senior Center and Endwell Yesteryears program will temporarily close beginning Monday, October 19, for floor renovations. The closure is expected to last approximately one month, with a tentative reopening date of November 19. The reopening date is subject to change. The center will be closed to all participants and volunteers during the renovation.

Meal Pickup During Closure

Broome West participants can continue to pick up lunches at the back door of the Broome West kitchen Monday through Friday during the closure. Contribution envelopes can also be dropped off at that location.

Meals must be reserved by noon the day before pickup. There will be no meal pickup on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day, when staff will be off for the holiday.

Alternative Senior Center Locations

Participants who wish to continue visiting a senior center during the closure are welcome at the following nearby locations:

  • Vestal Senior Center: Old Vestal Junior High School, 201 Main Street, Vestal. The center is located at the top of the long ramp accessible from the back parking lot. Call 607-754-9596
  • Johnson City Senior Center: 30 Brocton Street, Johnson City. Call 607-797-3145

The Endwell Yesteryears program will hold its regular programming from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Johnson City Senior Center throughout the closure for individuals already registered for the program.

Participants are encouraged to sign up for Blooming Health, the Office for Aging’s electronic communication system, or follow the Broome County Office for Aging Facebook page for updates, including confirmation of the reopening date. Current Broome West Senior Center participants and Endwell Yesteryears participants will receive additional information from program staff in the coming days.
