(BROOME COUNTY, NY) – The BC SAFE Coalition invites members of the media, community leaders, and the public to attend a press conference announcing the 7th Annual Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk campaign on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton.
The Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk campaign engages schools, businesses, organizations, and residents across Broome County in creating inspiring chalk art messages that promote hope, reduce stigma, and encourage open, honest conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.
“This campaign reminds our community that the world is brighter with you in it,” said Britt Riso, Coordinator of BC SAFE. “Through creative expression and connection, we can break down barriers and show that hope and help are always within reach.”
The campaign will run from September 10–20, 2026, in recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month and World Suicide Prevention Day. Highlights include a county-wide art contest, community chalking events, and partnership activities designed to foster connection and spread messages of resilience.
Reporters are encouraged to attend for interviews, photo opportunities, and to learn more about how local schools, businesses, and organizations are participating in the campaign.
