Spring Series 2026: Planning for Solar

Join Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development for their Spring Municipal Training Series on Planning for Solar.  This training series will include four sessions and focus on the different development considerations related to solar development.

Planning Board & Zoning Board of Appeals members will receive up to 2.5 hours of credit for each session attended.  All sessions are optional.  There is no cost to attend.

 

Session #2, Solar and the Environment,  will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  The Zoom link will open at 4:45 PM.  This session will feature speakers from NYSERDA and the NY DEC, and include the following topics:

  • Site Plan essential elements, SEQRA and 239 requirements
  • Potential Environmental Impacts - local review and stormwater management
  • Potential Environmental Impacts - local review and the floodplain
  • Solar and the Environment
  • NYSERDA Guidebook

Pre-registration is required for Session #2 to ensure an adequate count.

  • AGM Guidelines for Solar Development Construction Mitigation

Future Speakers will include representatives from the NYS Agriculture and Markets, CCE Thompkins County, NYSERDA as well as specialized areas of the public/private sector.
